THE lack of a full side could cost Group A leaders Girlington dearly as they saw their Bradford Mutual Sunday School League advantage trimmed to 11 points after a narrow 16-run defeat to Great Horton Church.

Mohammed Zahid scored 67 as he led Church to 187-8 in a match reduced to 38 overs per side by the inclement weather that affected the weekend programme.

Kamran Mir replied with 60 but ten-man Girlington were all out for 171 as Mohammed Tariq bagged 4-35.

Nearest rivals Omars were perhaps rescued by the weather as they were struggling on 36-5 in reply to third-placed Bradford Moor's 168 (Shahid Farooq 54) when the heavens opened.

At the other end of the table, Apperley Bridge eased their relegation worries after defeating bottom side VVS Laxman by 56 runs.

Second-bottom Salem Athletic only had nine men but overcame that disadvantage to post 202 (Shahid Iqbal 56) and scraped a 12-run victory as they dismissed Bradford Gymkhana for 190.

Yunus Bismillah made 100 not out and shared a second-wicket stand of 111 with Mohammed Pandor (59) but rain thwarted Interlink (210-5) against Hallfield (65-4).

Great Horton Church B were denied an opportunity to seal the Group B title as their game against Girlington B, who are battling to avoid relegation, was abandoned due to the weather.

Girlington reached 187-9 led by Khalid Mahmood (62) and Zahoor Ahmed (61) against Riadus Rishad (5-42) and Church were 80-4 off 17 overs when the game was scrapped.

The match between promotion-chasing duo Yorkshire LPS and Parkside featured two first-wicket century stands but went the way of LPS by eight wickets.

Parkside openers Amid Khan (75) and Kesar Zaman (67) put on 128 but the ten-man side were all out for 171 (Ghazanfar Ali 4-29) and LPS powered home as Hiren Patel (64) and Tahir Abbas shared 105.

Nine-man Allerton are fourth after their game against bottom side Bowling Baptist was abandoned. Munir Hussain (59) steered Allerton to 154-7 and Baptist were 87-5 (Krishna Koyyalamudi 47) in reply before the early close.

Bradford Gymkhana B were looking good after posting 261-8 (Majid Baig 95) and reducing Salem Athletic B to 87-6 before the weather intervened.

Cross Roads & Daisy Hill were halted at 53-2 in reply to Cambing's 191 (Mohamed Zada Khan 93, Bilal Mughal 5-38).

The Group C title race is still wide open after top two Greenfield and Yorkshire Friends both won, leaving just two points between them.

Greenfield were restricted to 155 by Mayfield (John Farr 4-33, Israr Ali 4-47) but then dismissed their opponents for 132.

Yorkshire Friends kept up the pressure by cruising to a nine-wicket win over Cambing, who were all out for 127. Rizwan Hameed (62no) and Amber Shazad (44no) completed the task.

Hallfield climbed above Cambing into third place thanks to a seven-wicket win over Mandhata (145-8) as Fraz Ali (49no) led a successful chase.

Ten-man Great Horton Meths posted 166 and second-bottom Bowling Baptists were 48-1 in 11 overs when the rain came down.

The game between West Bowling and Yorkshire LPS was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Mayfield beat Greenfield (101) by six wickets in the top-of-the-table Group D clash to earn a nine-point advantage at the summit, Mehboob Hussain's unbeaten 60 proving decisive.

Bradford Indians (Sahir Ahmed 62no) remain third after a seven-wicket win over Muff Field, who were all out for 82.

TABS (Tahir Qazi 58no) stay fourth courtesy of a three-wicket win over Allerton (159-8 – Abdul Kadeer 59, Kamran Raza 51no, Ziad Bin Arif 4-42).

Bottom side Great Horton Meths could reach only 36, John Taylor claiming six victims, as Buttershaw St Pauls won by six wickets.
