GREENFIELD were crowned Division Two champions in their debut Bradford Evening League season after a home win over Bradshaw in the final week of the league programme.

They restricted the visitors to 78-9 from their 16 overs, Mohammed Imran taking 3-15, then wasted no time in securing the title by knocking off the runs with 6.2 overs and seven wickets to spare thanks to Sohail Khan (27) and Atif Zaidi (24).

Ciroc finished joint-top with Greenfield with an identical record of played 14, won nine, lost one, drawn four but Greenfield finished top by virtue of having a better head-to-head record.

Fellow debutants Ciroc ended with a home win against Daisy Hill.Divyang Patel continued his recent form with the bat, top-scoring for the visitors with 46, but none of his team-mates made double figures as they were all out for 77.

Opener Fahid Rehman hit a rapid 53 not out in reply as Ciroc raced to a nine-wicket victory off just 7.3 overs.

Hepworth & Idle also ended a successful first season in the league with victory over winless Cambing to finish third in the section.

Kevin McDermott ended a fine personal campaign with another retirement (51no) as, together with Simon McDermott's 27, Cambing's earlier total of 88-8 (Kaleem Awan 23) was easily passed.

John Breare posted 106-8 against West Bowling with the main contribution coming from Ben Waller (28). Zeeshan Haider (55no) led Bowling to a seven-wicket win with four balls to spare.

The league will now prepare for their finals day on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29 at Great Horton Park Chapel's Ewart Street ground, where Salem Athletic, Mayfield, Greenfield and Ciroc battle it out for the Les Benson Memorial Trophy.
