YORKSHIRE have recovered nicely from early strife at 22-2 during the opening morning of their LV= County Championship match against relegation-threatened Sussex at Hove.
After winning the toss, Andrew Hodd and Jack Leaning fell cheaply as the champions tottered.
But captaincy duo Andrew Gale and Alex Lees, leaders in four-day and one-day cricket, have not only steadied the ship but prospered to ensure a lunchtime score of 102-2 from 30 overs.
Lees reached an 80-ball fifty inside the final ten minutes of the session, including ten fours.
He has been strong on the drive through the covers in reaching 54, while Gale will begin the afternoon unbeaten on 33.
Yorkshire, who won the toss, have left out their leading wicket-taker Jack Brooks.
