Somerset have made a steady start to their first innings in reply to Yorkshire’s 450 during day two at Taunton.
The final two wickets of the White Rose’s first innings were taken by Alfonso Thomas and Johann Myburgh in the early stages of the afternoon before the hosts reached tea on 67-1 from 25 overs.
Ryan Sidebottom took the only Somerset wicket to fall when he removed Marcus Trescothick’s off-stump after the left-hander had played down the wrong line for 20 in the eleventh over, leaving the score at 36-1.
Opener Chris Jones and Nick Compton have since reached 34 and eleven respectively. Yorkshire’s bowlers have plenty of hard work ahead of them in good batting conditions if they are to secure an opening week win.
