Lightcliffe’s batsmen went on another run spree as they topped 300 for the second successive game in the JCT600 Bradford League second-team competition.

East Bierley were the latest victims as a 195-run win lifted Lightcliffe above their opponents into second place in Division One.

Rhys Jowett and Michael Brooke, who both made centuries in a 363-3 total against Woodlands in the previous game, were in the runs again.

This time Brooke (93) and Jowett (94) missed out on three figures but their partnership of 197 was the platform for an impressive 352-3, with Richie Powe adding an unbeaten 68.

Eats Bierley skipper Dan Abbott (48no) showed defiance but his side were bowled out for 157 in reply.

Lightcliffe are 63 points behind runaway leaders Morley, who made it 14 wins in 15 games as they defeated defending champions Farsley by six wickets. Sam Medley (81) and George Robson (55) helped Morley chase down a Farsley total of 173 (Stuart Kirk 49, Paul Kinder 4-45).

Mid-table Woodlands bounced back from their Lightcliffe mauling and last-ball Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield defeat by New Farnley the previous weekend to defeat struggling Hartshead Moor by five wickets.

Young batsmen Elliot Richardson (66no) and Jack Carter (60) helped them to surpass Moor’s 186-8 (Matthew Evans 59, Martin Ellis 56no, Rob Medcalf 4-52).

Bradford & Bingley are rooted to the bottom, 21 points behind Hartshead Moor, after a 99-run defeat against improving Yeadon.

Keiran Hanogue (54) helped Yeadon post 255 (Romil Butt 4-45) before B&B were bowled out for 156 (Warren Allitt 62, Richard Marsden 4-45).

Bowling Old Lane (122 – Sajid Mahmood 4-28) continue to hover just above the relegation zone after a six-wicket defeat by Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield finalists Hanging Heaton (Umar Majid 56no).

Young last-wicket pair Dillon Birkett and Nissar Ahmadi edged Keighley to a one-wicket win at Baildon. They added 12 vital runs as the visitors edged past Baildon’s 151 (Muhammad Bilal 63, Alex Towler 4-30).

The top four Division Two teams – Pudsey Congs, Undercliffe, Pudsey St Lawrence and New Farnley – all won as the battle for promotion continues to be a close-fought affair.
