Lightcliffe will face Morley in the Dyson Energy Services Twenty20 Cup final under Bradford & Bingley’s floodlights at Wagon Lane on Thursday, August 15.

A 37-run win against holders Pudsey Congs earned Lightcliffe a place in the final for the first time, while last season’s runners-up Morley edged through by four runs against Hanging Heaton.

Lightcliffe posted a score of 191-6, with skipper Chris Taylor (53) and Alex Stead (45) leading the way.

It proved to be a daunting target as Congs saw their grip on the trophy slip away as they were restricted to 154-9 in reply.

Jack Seddon was their top scorer with 29 as Lightcliffe were boosted by 3-28 from Suleman Khan.

Meanwhile, the match at Scatcherd Lane between the two teams reinstated to the competition after Pudsey St Lawrence’s disqualification went down to the last available ball before Morley sealed victory over Hanging Heaton.

Morley looked to have blown their chance of progressing when they were bowled out for 120 with 13 deliveries remaining.

Luke Heinemann top-scored with 34 as they struggled to generate any impetus, with Gary Fellows taking 3-21.

Hanging Heaton lost early wickets before Joe Suggitt gave them renewed hope. He made an unbeaten 40 but his side fell just short of Morley’s total, finishing on 116-7.

Kashif Naveed claimed 2-11 in his four overs as the pick of the Morley bowlers.
