The difference between when it's going for you and when it's not was clearly highlighted in the Dales Council League Division A clash between basement boys Adel and runaway leaders Pudsey Congs.

For the third successive week, Congs (179-9) were involved in a successful nail-biting finish, this time coming up trumps with a win at luckless Adel (178-8, Steve Grey 51), who went down to an agonising one-wicket defeat for the second successive week.

Halifax Direct (177-7, Abdul Gharrar 52) maintained their second spot in the table after a three-wicket win over visitors Baildon (174, Tom Hopwood 71).

However, third-placed New Wortley (191, Farhan Saeed 71) lost for the second successive week, going down by 30 runs at Shipley Providence (221, Tom Hawksworth 67, Adnan Ashraf 6-38).

Lowly Crompark (118-5) caused a surprise when defeating fourth-in-the-table Leeds Sikh, who had been dismissed for 117.

Cookridge had both Mounam Ejaz (103) and Colin Oats (101no) to thank in their total of 263-4. Then visitors Saville Stars were put out for just 86 (Jahangir Gulzar 4-6).

In the final fixture at Farnley Hill, Chris Sowden hit an unbeaten 116 and Tony Leighton 65 out of 286. In reply, visitors Hepworth & Idle were dismissed for 180, the Tong village side securing a 106-run win.

Division B leaders Tong Park Esholt (230-8, Jai Aujla 64, Matthew Birkby 53no) recorded a 102-run win over in-form Farsley (128), while second-in-the-table Pudsey St Lawrence (85-4) kept in touch with the leaders after a six-wicket win over visitors Drighlington-Whitehall (84).

Last weekend's Cawthorne Cup winners Cookridge B made a quick return to their winning venue at Hepworth & Idle.

However, the result turned out to be somewhat different. The hosts, despite making only 130, had more than enough runs as the wily Paul Medley (4-23) and the youthful Danny Searle (4-39) helped dismiss Cookridge for 111.

For the second successive week, Bradford Moor were involved in a batting extravaganza, once again surpassing 300, with Arjun Gupta hitting 92 out of 303-9.

However, the home side were not dismayed by the total, responding with a highly creditable 263 (Phil Whitrick 62, Don Butterfield 56).

In the battle of the top two in Division C, leaders Pudsey Congs B (199, Robin Kettlewell 74) made big strides towards the title when defeating nearest challengers Shipley Providence (131) by 68 rus.
