Otley are the Newcastle United of the Waddilove Cup; a team with a proud tradition but whose impact in recent years has been less than spectacular.

While the Magpies must look back to the early 1950s for the most recent of their six FA Cup triumphs, Otley picked up the Waddilove trophy for the tenth time in 1987.

Their hopes of making it to 11 this year hang on the need to produce a major upset on Sunday because they face Beckwithshaw, a side who are strolling away with the Aire-Wharfe League and have looked head and shoulders better than all the opposition so far this season.

Awaiting the winners at Knaresborough on August 11 will be either Burley or Follifoot, with the odds heavily in favour of Burley.

They have led the league pursuit of Beckwithshaw while their opponents are propping up the Division One table having lost eight of their 13 matches.

Burley will be hoping it is as comfortable as the 2011 final – the last time they won the trophy – when they skittled Follifoot for just 87.

Steeton will hope that Burley’s minds are on the cup when they meet in the league on Saturday because five defeats in the last six matches have seen them slip to just above the bottom two.

They still have an 11-point cushion over Harden but Richard Wear’s men have shown real signs of recovery in recent weeks and have a good chance of picking up all six points at Follifoot.

Guiseley take an unbeaten four-match run into their clash with Otley and will be keen to avenge an early-season reverse that ended their time at the top of the table.

And Ben Rhydding know they will need their A game at Kirkstall, who are on an impressive run of form having dropped only two points in five starts.

Like Harden in the top flight, Calverley have recently looked like a team capable of avoiding the drop from Division Two and leaders Rawdon will certainly not take them for granted – especially after their own fall from grace at Adel last week.

The match of the day pitches second-placed Ilkley against Tong Park Esholt, who trail them by just a point. Harry Neilsen starred with a knock of 84 when Ilkley took four points in their earlier encounter and, on the back of two big innings in recent weeks, he could again hold the key.

Although in seventh place, Green Lane are only eight points off the promotion spots and will fancy their chances against faltering Knaresborough, while Thackley will seek to keep their promotion challenge on track by completing a double over Bolton Villas.

Division Three leaders Skipton travel to bottom club Silsden and could extend their advantage at the top because second-placed Upper Wharfedale have a tricky match against high-scoring New Rover.

Horsforth should also be in a position to take advantage of any dropped points by Wharfedale by beating Alwoodley.

Addingham and Menston have difficult trips to Illingworth and Woodhouse respectively, two sides that have impressed in recent weeks.

And Hall Park travel to Olicanian looking to complete the double after Aaron Chapman and Ally Walshaw led them to a seven-wicket win early in the season.
