Century stars Alex Lees and Phil Jaques ploughed on with the bat during the first afternoon of the County Championship clash with Derbyshire at Chesterfield.
The left-handed pair are closing in on the top ten all-time highest second-wicket partnerships for Yorkshire, having shared 263 inside 62 overs to underpin a score of 285-1 from 68 overs at tea.
Lees brought up his second four-day hundred of the year off 163 balls with 16 fours and Jaques completed his off 174 with 13 fours and a six. This was the former Australia Test player’s first three-figure score since May last year.
Jaques added his second six in the latter stages of the session when hooking Mark Turner.
Derbyshire’s best bowler has been debutant off-spinning all-rounder Peter Burgoyne, who bowled an unbroken 23-over spell either side of lunch for just 42 runs.
Lees resumed this evening on 123 and Jaques 120.
