Thackley's trophy cabinet at Dennyfield is well stocked after a good season, so the club will have to step up to the mark to defend their cups in the coming season.

The first team lifted the Baris Northern Counties East League Cup in May, after a 3-1 victory in the final over Shirebrook Town.

However, the other teams at the club were not far behind in what turned out to be a good haul for the Dennyboys.

Silverware was coming thick and fast at the end of Thackley’s most successful season for decades.

The reserve team won their title and the under-18s went one better as they landed a double, adding a league cup to their title win. They ended the season unbeaten - the invincibles!

The record catch means there are four trophies in the cabinet for the next 12 months, which will no doubt increase the annual bill for silver polish.

The first team’s cup win was their first success since they lifted the West Riding County Cup in 1975.

Spokesman Mick Lodge said: “It is 37 years since the senior side at the club landed a trophy, which is well before all of the current squad were born.”
