New dad Andrew Davies has spoken of his delight at becoming a fully-fledged City player.

The former Premier League centre half was thought to be out of the club’s reach following his loan spell last season.

But Phil Parkinson recently beat off higher-division interest, led by Greg Abbott’s Carlisle, to snap up the 27-year-old on a one-year deal.

And Davies, who recently became a father for the first time, says he could not be happier.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last season – the supporters were fantastic to me,” said Davies.

“There were other clubs interested in me but I see the potential in this place. I can see this place really taking off.

“In my opinion, I felt the other clubs interested in me weren’t as big as Bradford.

“These were teams in the league above ours and beyond.

“With everything this club has to offer, the size of the place, the fan base, I feel there is a really good chance of this club moving forward, and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Davies is relishing the added responsibility of fatherhood and says he aims to hit new heights on the pitch next term.

He added: “We’ve just had a baby boy recently so that has resulted in a few sleepless nights!

“But I’ve still been keeping myself ticking over throughout the summer.

“I just want to come back fitter, better and more mentally prepared for the next season.

“I can promise the fans that I will be doing everything possible to ensure I am a better player than what I was last season.”
