Steel Bangle from Division 3A surprised Division 2A side White Hart United 2-1 in the Bradford & District Sunday Cup final at Plumpton Park.
In a repeat of last year’s Amateur Cup final, White Hart took an early lead through Karl Butler and threatened to run riot.
But Bangle equalised after 32 minutes through Gurdip Bhambra in a first half that contained end-to-end action.
The frantic pace eased at the start of the second half, with both teams careful to keep mistakes to a minimum.
But Bangle’s winning goal was a lucky affair when a cross from James Murphy somehow finished up in White Hart’s net in the 68th minute. This brought United into life and Marcus Edwards had three great opportunities to equalise but Bangle’s defence withstood the pressure.
Gurpal Bhambra of Steel Bangle was awarded the man-of-the-match prize and was a constant threat to the White Hart defence.
