Tyersal became the first team in over three seasons to complete the West Riding County Amateur League double over Bay Athletic with a 3-1 away win.

Bay, who have been PREMIER DIVISION champions for the last four campaigns, lost 2-1 at Arkwright Street back in August.

Glynn Beale and Alan Morley junior scored the goals that day and were both on target again in Saturday’s victory, with Tim McLaughlin completing the Tyersal tally. Nathan James replied for third-placed Bay.

It was back to normal at the foot of the table after last week’s shock victories for sides looking to avoid relegation as not one of the bottom four managed to pick up a point.

Basement side Wibsey’s chances of beating the drop took a big hit as they lost 6-1 at home to Kirkburton, with Jamie Brennan netting the sole reply.

Third-bottom Littletown’s 9-1 home win over Marsden the previous Saturday was quickly forgotten as they managed only an Aidan Schofield goal in reply to two by visitors Hall Green United from Jamie Miller and Chris Tunney.

Lower Hopton, who have only one game left to play, lost 3-2 at Marsden after leading 1-0 at the interval and are far from safe fourth from bottom.

Their biggest threat comes from second-bottom Brighouse Town, who still have seven games to fit in and are just five points behind Lower Hopton after missing out 4-3 at Golcar United. One mid-table clash saw Campion picked up three points with a 2-1 home win against Storthes Hall.

Kyle Silkstone gave the visitors the lead five minutes before the interval but they were pegged back within a minute by Carl Trennery’s equaliser and Campion finally secured the points with a Damian Melvin strike in the last 20 minutes.

DIVISION TWO leaders Albion Sports broke a run of taking just one point from three games with a narrow 1-0 victory at second-bottom West Horton.

Matthew Wilson’s goal leaves Albion with a six-point cushion over second-placed Campion Reserves, who could draw level by winning their two games in hand.

The DIVISION TWO CUP final between Albion Sports and Ovenden West Riding Reserves will take place at Campion’s ground at Manningham Mills on Thursday, May 3 (7pm).

Lepton Highlanders and Tingley Athletic will contest the DIVISION ONE CUP final the following day at Emley (7.15pm).
