It is just as well that Silsden were safe before their recent poor run in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
Three defeats on the trot have prevented Chris Reape’s side from reaching the top half of the table – but there are no concerns about the Cobbydalers’ top-flight status.
All the hard work and points won since the impromptu winter break mean the club are in a comfortable position.
Spokesman Jim Rosser said: “We have lost three on the run but it’s understandable when you look at the fixtures we have had. We played top, second and third in a short space of time, and when we played Glossop, which was our last win – 1-0 at home, they were sixth.
“We have got them again tomorrow and they are fourth now, so it isn’t getting any easier. The lads have played really well though and Chris and his assistant Danny Bolton have done a marvellous job.
“The players are giving everything. James Nettleton missed the game before last because he was at hospital on paternity duties but he came back for Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at AFC Blackpool and he was outstanding. He is playing really well alongside Arley Barnes in defence.
“There are four regulars missing tomorrow. Barnes is unavailable and our keeper James Mann is one of three suspended, so we still have things to deal with, but overall it has been a magnificent effort by the management team and the squad to put us in this position. We actually feel disappointed when we lose at some of the top sides - it’s brilliant!”
