Super City ended the best record in the country to claim their second away win of the season this afternoon.

Torquay had won seven in a row - and not conceded a goal at home for three months.

But City turned the tables magnificently, just as they had done at Southend on their only previous away success.

City began on the front foot but found themselves behind to Torquay's first shot in anger, winger Danny Stevens driving home from the edge of the box after 13 minutes.

But rather than letting heads drop, the response was magnificent as the Bantams hit back with two goals in seven minutes.

Craig Fagan, playing the role as lone striker in James Hanson's absence, levelled when he tapped home Kyel Reid's low cross.

And he returned the favour three minutes later with a clever one-two that Reid lashed past Bobby Olejnik.

Having kept out visiting sides for nearly nine and a half hours, Torquay had conceded twice in three minutes.

Kevin Nicholson tried to use the wind to catch out Jon McLaughlin with a free-kick from the halfway line but Torquay could not find an immediate response to the double blow.

City could have had a third two minutes before the break when Reid, who was having a field day, teed up Ricky Ravenhill on the edge of the box. The midfielder took a good touch to steady himself but then pulled his shot just wide with Olejnik beaten.

There was almost a scare at the start of second half when McLaughlin lost a Stevens cross but Marcel Seip cleared from the advancing Eunan O'Kane.

Michael Flynn was enjoying his first game since his serious stomach virus and he nearly crowned it with a goal as his curler narrowly missed the top corner.

Torquay thought they had levelled after 65 minutes when sloppy marking left Mark Ellis free at a free-kick but the defender's header smashed against the post.

City were defending well under pressure but Fagan had a glorious chance to seal the win 11 minutes left. Ravenhill's pass sent him clear on goal but his shot over Olejnik also cleared the bar.

Torquay piled forward at the end but City's defence withstood the pressure to clinch a memorable victory.
