Bottesford Town 1, Eccleshill United 2
A superb second-half comeback saw Eccleshill win at Bottesford Town for the first time to keep them in the hunt for promotion from Northern Counties East League Division One.
The Eagles had fallen behind just after the half-hour point when keeper Tom Taylor was credited with an own goal. That proved to be the only strike in the first half, so the hosts turned round still trailing.
It all changed as an eight-minute spell turned the game on its head, with Charlie Flaherty ramping up his already impressive tally of assists.
The versatile Flaherty, who has notched six goals himself this season, turned provider for Joe Penn (52 minutes) and Andy Howland (60) as the Eagles earned a deserved victory.
The win lifted them back up one place to seventh and through the 40-point barrier to keep them in the race for promotion.
They are seven points off top spot, but with three games in hand, and six behind neighbours Albion Sports on the same number of matches played.
This was after Albion’s scheduled home game against third-bottom Grimsby Borough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Horsfall Stadium.
