While the blanket ban on playing football on grounds under the control of Bradford and Kirklees councils last weekend only affected a handful of West Riding County Amateur League clubs, the heavy rain and frost during the week made the grounds of the teams with privately-controlled pitches unplayable for virtually the same reason.

Two clubs in Division One did manage to play their games.

AFC Emley, with a first-half Strike from Gavin Armitage, had a 1-0 home victory over Wakefield City on Friday night.

Leaders Lepton Highlanders, who owe much of their success this season to the recruitment of some of the Bay Athletic team that have lifted the Premier Division title for the last four seasons, extended their unbeaten start to 15 games with a 4-2 success at Westbrook YMCA.

Strikes came from Paul Pike, Ashley Flynn, Kitson Gayle and Tom Mitchell, while Elliott Williams and Gareth Hanson netted for YMCA.

With all three of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup ties involving County Amateur League sides that were postponed on December 3 called off again, and the games involving Kirkburton and Hall Green United Reserves in both of the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Challenge cup competitions, called off on Saturday, a slight re-scheduling of fixtures has had to be made to this coming Saturday's games to fit in, where possible, the postponed cup Ties.

West Riding County Amateur Football League results (December 9-10) - Division One: AFC Emley 1 (G Armitage), Wakefield City 0; Westbrook YMCA 2 (E Williams G Hanson), Lepton Highlanders 4 (P Pyke, A Flynn, K Gayle, T Mitchell).
