The weekend’s weather was not nearly as bad as forecast so the expected blanket postponements were avoided.

But there were some fixtures that fell by the wayside, with three of the nine local semi-professional clubs being thwarted.

Silsden’s home game against Maine Road in the North West Counties League Premier Division was off because of a waterlogged pitch at their ASDA Foundation Stadium.

Brighouse Town should have been at Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division but that was a non-starter for similar reasons.

The club who stood to lose most by a postponement were Albion Sports, whose home game against Dinnington Town was the first to go.

Bradford Council took the early decision not to allow any matches on any of their grounds, which included Horsfall Stadium.

As it turned out Albion remained joint-top of the NCE League Division One table despite not playing.

In fact, they are now in a stronger position as they have a game in hand on the club above them on goal difference.

Worksop Parramore suffered a surprise defeat, 5-1 at Rossington Main, so they have now played a game more and had their goal-difference advantage slashed to just one.

Third-placed Pontefract Collieries were denied a chance to snatch the leadership as they also endured a postponement but they too have played one more game than Albion.
