Thackley face a second difficult home encounter on the trot as they host leaders Bridlington Town in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday.

The Dennyboys hosted promotion-chasing Scarborough Athletic last weekend and ended up on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline.

Dean Windass, registered with the Seadogs, was on the squad list sent to Dennyfield for the programme notes but his commitments with Sky Sports prevented him from appearing, and Thackley must have breathed a sigh of relief.

Scarborough are only fourth though so Brid will certainly be another challenge.

However, despite last Saturday’s demolition, the Dennyboys won in midweek to reclaim fifth place and only trail Brid by seven points, so Vince Brockie will have his men well drilled.

Brighouse Town also have a lot to play for this weekend as they make the short journey to Tadcaster Albion in another fixture which will affect the top of the table.

Town are sixth, just one spot behind Thackley, while Taddy are just above Scarborough.

Liversedge will not want to be left behind and they have a good opportunity to pick up points at home as they host struggling Selby Town.

Sedge beat Maltby Main last weekend, a result which sent their opponents to the foot of the table, but they were beaten away in midweek at mid-table Armthorpe Welfare, who are now just above Billy Miller’s men.
