Peter Jackson will today welcome City back to training with the warning: Pre-season will be tougher than ever.

The Bantams are one of the first clubs in the country to go back to work.

Jackson has just under six weeks to shape his side for the Valley Parade opener against Aldershot and intends to utilise that time to ensure the team are at maximum sharpness.

He said: “Myself and Colin (Cooper) feel that the players weren’t fit enough last season. Some looked fitter than others but it’s important as a group that they are all up to that level.

“It’s going to be a very hard pre-season for them. They’re going to work and it will be tough.

“We need to have a good pre-season to give ourselves the best possible chance for the league."
