Norwich look set to win the race to sign Bradley Johnson on a Bosman free transfer after the Leeds midfielder rejected a new deal at Elland Road.

Johnson is set to sign a three-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League new boys, despite interest from Sunderland and West Brom.

The Canaries also want Robert Snodgrass but will have to increase their £3.5million offer to have any chance of landing the highly-rated Leeds winger.

Meanwhile, United will be one of the seeded clubs when the draw for the Carling Cup first round is made on Thursday, June 16.

Simon Grayson’s men will play a side which finished in or around the bottom half of League One last season or a League Two team.

Leeds should know by the end of the week whether plans to play two pre-season games in Scotland can go ahead.

Provisional arrangements have been made to face Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday, July 16.

If that gets the go-ahead, United will potentially play Falkirk during the week building up to the fixture against Stuart McCall’s side.

’Well need permission from the Scottish FA because of the high number of games already arranged in the area on that date.

United had considered going abroad during the close-season but if the Scotland tour goes ahead that option will be dropped.
