Albion Sports are now guaranteed at least a runners-up finish in the West Riding County Amateur League – but they remain in hot pursuit of PREMIER DIVISION title favourites Bay Athletic.

The Bradford club moved within a point of their Huddersfield rivals, although having played two games more, with a 2-0 home win over struggling Hall Green United. Paul Helliwell and an own goal secured maximum points.

Nick Jagger netted both goals as Bay clinched the WEST RIDING COUNTY FA CHALLENGE CUP with a 2-1 win over West Yorkshire League opponents Otley Town.

Campion are in pole position to take third place in the league after beating Golcar United 5-0. Two goals each by Curtis McMahon and Joe Brown were backed up by Ben O’Melia.

At the foot of the table, Hunsworth delayed relegation for another match with a 2-2 home draw against Storthes Hall.

Steve Oakes netted both Hunsworth goals but Alex Slack and a late Alistair Townsley equaliser denied them victory.

Wibsey still need at least two points to guarantee avoiding the drop, with their cause not helped when Ovenden West Riding scored twice in the last five minutes through Chris Smith and Matt Jones to win 3-1. Chris Hanney had cancelled out Gareth Jones’ opener for the Halifax side.

The chances of Salts gaining promotion from DIVISION ONE is in the hands of other clubs.

A 2-2 draw at Bay Athletic Reserves leaves them top but only three points clear of Littletown, who have three games in hand and kept their push on track by beating Wakefield City 2-1 with two Joe Jagger goals. Bronte Wanderers had Ross Greenaway and Gareth Ritson on target in a 2-1 win at basement side Eastmoor.

Heckmondwike Town eased their relegation fears with a 3-0 success at Westbrook YMCA thanks to goals from Lee Ryan (2) and Rob Hiscox.

But Tyersal Reserves are also still not yet clear of trouble after sharing the points with a 2-2 draw at home to Dudley Hill Rangers.

Storthes Hall Reserves have led the way in DIVISION TWO for most of the season and a 2-0 win over Kirkburton Reserves leaves them seven points clear – but they may yet have to settle for runners-up spot.

Newcomers Lepton Highlanders, who have four games in hand, extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches with a 5-2 home win over Campion Reserves thanks to an Ashley Flynn hat-trick and John Flynn double.

Crag Road United look like joining Tingley Athletic Reserves in being relegated after losing 3-1 at Steeton Reserves.

Albion Sports Reserves clinched the DIVISION THREE title in midweek with a 4-2 victory at Long Lee Reserves.

Joining them in promotion could be Marsden, who beat Salts Reserves 5-0, or Littletown Reserves, who had a 7-2 success at Ventus/Yeadon Reserves.
