Marc Herbert has a 50-50 chance of making his Bulls debut against Wigan on Sunday (3pm).

The Aussie scrum half missed out on his side’s Super League opener after failing to recover from a hamstring strain picked up during pre-season.

And despite returning to full training this week, he still faces a race against time to be fit for the visit of the reigning champions.

“Marc’s got a chance,” said boss Mick Potter. “He’s probably 50-50 and he’ll have to pass a test on Friday.

“He got through most of training on Wednesday and then we’ll assess him before the game.”

Kyle Briggs has shown no serious effects after taking a bump to the knee during last week’s defeat to Leeds, so he will likely continue alongside Brett Kearney in the halves if Herbert fails to recover.

But Jamie Langley faces an extended spell on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder early in the Millennium Stadium derby clash.

Although the back-rower has already started rehabilitation work and does not require an operation, he could be out for up to six weeks.

Potter said: “Jamie Langley will probably be out for four to six weeks.

“He’s started rehab already and he’s good with his rehab so he’ll get back in the minimum time possible.

“He doesn’t need an operation. It was only a little rattle in the joint.

“It didn’t come all the way out and didn’t need to be set back in place or anything, so it’s just a bit of strengthening work.”
