The waiting is finally over. The only other league, apart from the UniBond, not to have started is the FA Premier League so Bradford Park Avenue are back in long-overdue meaningful action.

Avenue slipped down to Division One after a disappointing campaign last term and their opponents tomorrow are Warrington Town.

The Cheshire side who travel to the Horsfall Stadium are somewhat of an unknown quantity to Avenue.

"Our last game was almost a non-event because it was a friendly but we have had two training sessions since and the boys are ready to go," said assistant manager Clive Freeman.

"It was nice to play Guiseley because of the history between the clubs and the links on both playing and management levels. We had a good time, met up with lots of old friends and I don't wish to take anything away from their victory.

"It was a pre-season game, Guiseley were the better side in the first half and precious little happened after the break.

"Good luck to them in the Premier Division this season because they look a decent outfit. Neil Parsley and Trevor Storton have made some great signings.

"To be honest we are just relieved to see the back of the pre-season - it seems to have gone on forever but, at the end of the day, it is a fitness regime more than a football issue and results mean very little.

"This is the business; there are points to play for at long last. We don't know much about Warrington but we do know we are desperate to get off to a good start.

"Obviously, the expectations are sky high when any season kicks off, but I think we are all setting our stall out to get straight back into the Premier Division."
