Farsley manager Neil Parsley has one eye on his own club’s fixtures and is casting cursory glances at those of their Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division rivals.

The Throstle Nest outfit moved back to the summit in midweek because they won, while leaders Parkgate slipped up at home. Farsley are now one point better off but Parkgate have a game in hand.

Parsley expects the leadership to change hands many times before the season ends as Tadcaster Albion and Bridlington Town make late charges.

Both of these title hopefuls have games in hand on the top two, and Winterton Rangers are also in the mix.

Parsley said: “The club with the best squad will win this league this season because there will be some demands on all of the teams chasing the one promotion place that is on offer.

“Ourselves and Parkgate are in the top positions at the moment but Taddy and Brid would be above us if they were to win their games in hand. But having an awful lot of games to get in before the end of the season could count against them.

“There are so many permutations it makes your head spin but all we can do is win our games as and when they come around. We can’t do anything about Parkgate because we have played them home and away but we have some other big games still to come.

“The games we have had postponed so far have mainly been at home so that leaves us with eight at home and just three away of our 11 remaining games.

"The season has to end in April or the first week of May so, with little time left, clubs are struggling to get their games in.

“I think that is slightly in our favour regarding travelling for midweek games. A lot of clubs will have games every Saturday and midweek from now on and they may struggle to get their best team out when they come to us, so having a glut of home games left will stand us in good stead.”
