With the memory of Manchester United’s defeat at the hands of Wolves last weekend fresh in the memory, Farsley will be taking nothing for granted when they host Hallam on Saturday.

Neil Parsley’s men climbed back to the summit of the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division in midweek with a victory at third-from-bottom Liversedge. Hallam are the current basement boys, having taken just ten points from their 21 games so far.

Tuesday’s win at Liversedge took Farsley’s tally to 54. However, second-placed Parkgate are breathing down their necks. They trail by just one point and have a game in hand.

Liversedge are also at home, against third-placed Bridlington Town.

Only goal difference is keeping Sedge out of the relegation places following their loss to Farsley.

Brid, meanwhile, have six and seven games in hand on the top two respectively, so are still title contenders.

Brighouse have slipped down to a disappointing 13th, meaning they head to Lincoln Moorlands Railway tomorrow three places and three points behind their hosts.

It is the lowest Town have been in the table all season and they would not even leapfrog Lincoln with a win because of a vastly inferior goal difference.

Another club whose season has petered out after a promising start is Thackley, as they are currently two places below Brighouse.

The Dennyboys travel to Long Eaton United, who are immediately above them in the table.

Thackley would go above their hosts with a win, as they have a much better goal difference, and they have four games in hand over the Derbyshire outfit.

In the lower tier, Eccleshill host Shirebrook Town.

The Eagles climbed one place thanks to a midweek draw at home to promotion-chasing Louth Town.
