Bradford Park Avenue progressed to the quarter-finals of the Evo-Stik League Challenge Cup and Farsley AFC reclaimed the leadership of the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division with away victories tonight.

Avenue travelled to Durham City and came away with a 3-1 win after a late burst of action in their tie. The sides were evenly matched and battled out a goalless first half.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 72nd minute when Rob O’Brien netted from outside the area. The home side were not daunted, however, and hit back through Jack Pounder just over four minutes later.

David Heagney, who had come on as a substitute for Avenue, had claimed an assist on the first goal and he scored the second three minutes from time.

He was also involved in the move that led to Tom Greaves netting the third in the penultimate minute.

Farsley also faced tough opposition on the night as they edged a close derby 2-1 at Liversedge.

With Parkgate losing 4-3 at home, it was enough to see Neil Parsley’s men back at the summit by a point.

Farsley were in the lead after Gareth Grant had scored the only goal of the first half with a deflected shot.

The Clayborners equalised early in the second half but the visitors snatched all three points with a stunning strike from Simeon Bambrook 20 minutes from time.
