Silsden management duo Chris Reape and Danny Bolton are determined to arrest their team’s slide down the Vodkat League table – and there is no better opportunity to start than at Keighley Road on Saturday.

The Cobbydalers face Alsager Town at home knowing they could vastly improve their Premier Division placing with a win. Their last three-pointer was early last month and they have tasted defeat seven times on the trot since.

Those losses – six in the league and one in the West Riding County Cup – have seen Silsden slip to 19th in the table, averaging only one point per game and with only three clubs below them.

Saturday’s visitors are four places higher but they have just two points more from the same number of games.

Silsden spokesman Jim Rosser said: “Chris brought Danny Toronczak, who people will know from spells at Liversedge and Thackley, and Andrew Brown (former Bradford City youth) in before last week’s game.

“They played well up front and we had some lads with a lot of experience back from injury. We did well and came within a goal of taking a point away from Runcorn, which would have been superb because they have a new manager, new players and a big following.

“It is the same old problem for us – our young squad lacks consistency. The progress is slow but we are seeing it and our supporters have been wonderful. The players like playing at home now we’re back in the village.”
