City's bid to bring in a loan striker this afternoon looks to have been dashed.
Peter Taylor had hoped to seal a new frontman in time to be in contention to face Gillingham.
But having agreed the deal with his club, it appears that the player has turned the chance down.
Taylor said: "It's not completely dead but it's gone a little bit flat at the moment."
