Lee Bullock column

It was a shame we couldn’t hang on for the win last week.

Without playing well, that could have been a good springboard to get going. There were some disappointed faces in the dressing room afterwards.

We’d put all the hard work in, only to let in a bad goal all round. We still got a point, which is a start, but we desperately need a win at the moment and should have seen that one through.

It’s not nice when you turn on Sky Sports News and see that league table flashing up every five minutes. But we’re the only ones who can change that.

I was pleased for Dave Syers to get his second goal for us. He has done really well so far, either playing in the middle or out on the wing, and looks very hungry.

He’s been involved at a few decent clubs as a youngster but missed the grade for various reasons and gone off and done a degree.

But he got his head down playing non-league and university football and it’s a credit to him that he’s now earned his chance as a professional. He’s got a great attitude.

Dave was meant to be starting an accountancy job the other day but obviously the dream of being a footballer has taken over from sitting in an office all day and hopefully he will keep getting better.

We’ve got quite a few brain boxes in the squad now with Dave, Jonny Mac, Tom Adeyemi and then there’s Chib as well.

To look at Chib, you’d think he was just a big, strong centre forward but he’s another really intelligent lad. I think we’ve got enough to start our own University Challenge team now!

The lads would just like to thank the Good Samaritan who saved Luke Dean in Green’s gym the other morning.

Luke was there with the other injured lads James and Rammers but couldn’t lift the 100kg bench presses like them.

When they went off to do something else, he sneaked back to have another go – and couldn’t get it off his chest.

Luckily someone heard this quiet voice asking for help and helped get the bar off him, otherwise he’d still be stuck there now!
