Eccleshill United 3, Leeds Carnegie 2
Eccleshill United beat Leeds Carnegie 3-2 tonight at Plumpton Park to progress in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League's Division One Cup - the Wilkinson Sword Trophy.
It was sweet retribution for Eccleshill because they were beaten 1-0 in the league by the same opposition at the same venue at the weekend. The cup tie nearly took a very late twist.
Mark Flanagan put the Eagles in front at home with the only goal of the first half.
Leeds got a foothold when Paul Harrison netted a direct free-kick just before the hour but the home side hit back through Adam Bower to regain the lead.
Then a hectic last two minutes followed as Roger Tienchev scored an equaliser for Leeds, only for Jack Mitchell to win the tie for the Eagles, and so save them from 30 minutes of extra-time, with his last-minute effort.
