In the National Conference League Premier Division, Dudley Hill were narrowly beaten 40-31 at Hull Dockers.

The game started brightly enough for Hill when, after only a couple of minutes, full back Lewis Evans cruised in for a try.

Hull hit back though and it needed a Stephen Brooke try to level things up for Hill at the break.

Further tries came from Neil Wall and Kyle Bateman, while Evans collected his second, but with Dockers’ Andy Kay crossing at the death, Hill were beaten by the clock.

In Division Two, West Bowling battled valiantly before going down 24-0 at Hunslet Warriors.

Bowling had their chances, with both Brad Conway and Tom Martin bundled into touch as they hurtled towards the line.

Warriors loose forward Caldon Bravo took full advantage of a loose pass from Bowling when he intercepted to race 80 metres in for a score.

Bowling’s Aidy Leek kept them on the front foot though and his break, superbly supported by half-back Gareth Cullington, nearly saw them over but for some scrambling Hunslet defence.

Bowling forwards Ben Kelly and Nigel Halmshaw battered the Warriors line but their defence held firm.

The home side then duly increased their lead when Dane Roberts crashed over and posted two further unanswered tries to run out winners.

Coach Ricky Helliwell will take great heart from the effort his outfit put in despite the result.
