City’s trialist trio have their final chance to impress Peter Taylor tonight.

The Bantams boss will deliver his verdict on Chib Chilaka, Seb Carole and Malvin Kamara after the reserves game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Striker Chilaka has been on the first-team bench four times and came on in the Carling Cup defeat to Preston.

Former Leeds winger Carole has been training with the club since the start of the season, while ex-Huddersfield midfielder Kamara has been in for three weeks.

Taylor said: “All three have been here a while and need to know where they stand. They’ve got to look after their families and we have had to put a date on it.

“Being realistic, none of them were anywhere near match fit when they first came in. If they’d wanted a decision from me straight away, it would have been no.

“I’ve basically offered them an opportunity to get fit and prove themselves. There’s no point in just hanging around for a few weeks so it’s time to make a decision.

“This is a good game to play in and I’ll talk to all three of them after that.”

Taylor has still got his eye on a loan target up front but has no immediate plans to bring him in ahead of the weekend home clash with Gillingham.

Jake Speight and Luke Oliver both reported knocks from the Stockport draw but should be fine to face the Gills.

Taylor again maintained that City’s struggling fortunes will change if they keep scrapping away.

He said: “I know more than most that it’s nowhere near good enough. We’ve got to keep fighting at the minute until we get that result.

“A lot of areas aren’t right and players are a little bit low on their normal standard. As long as we keep working hard then it’s got to improve.

“The work rate in the last two games has been first class. We could easily have had a 1-0 away win on Saturday without playing well.”
