Former Cheltenham skipper Shane Duff has become City’s sixth summer signing.

The 28-year-old centre half, younger brother of Burnley’s Michael, has signed on a one-year deal with an option for the club to extend it into a second.

Duff has previously spent his whole career at Whaddon Road and was awarded a testimonial last term.

But he has been hit hard by injuries and missed seven months of action last season following Achilles surgery.

Ironically, the problem flared up against the Bantams during the wild 5-4 game at Cheltenham 11 months ago.

Duff recovered to finish the season strongly and played a key defensive role in keeping the Robins out of the relegation zone.

There had also been talk of a move to Australia’s A League.

Duff’s arrival will raise question marks over the Valley Parade future of Zesh Rehman. There have been reports linking the club captain with a move away from City.

Peter Taylor has already signed Luke Oliver from Wycombe and handed a new three-year contract to Steve Williams.
