The Eagles are over the moon that Bradford City will be providing the opposition for their first pre-season friendly (Friday, July 9).

It will also be the first time spectators use the newly-installed seats that used to be part of Chesterfield’s former Saltergate ground.

Eccleshill secretary Brian Bell said: “The Bantams have told us they will be sending their full squad, so we are expecting a lot of fans coming to the game and we have made provisions to put extra staff on and have ordered extra food.

“It will be nice for our own supporters and also a chance for them to see how our ground has improved over the close season.

“We have had a lot of volunteers working very hard on upgrading our facilities.

“We have done some work on the stand and installed some new seatsfrom Chesterfield’s old ground. One of our people went over to pick them up last week.

“The floodlights have been upgraded and the dugouts have been refurbished.”

The Eagles’ new boss, former Bantams player and assistant-manager Ian Banks, has arranged his first training session for Tuesday.

The coaching set-up has changed with Mark Ellis, another former Bantam, being installed as director of football while Banks will be in charge of the day to day management, training and first team duties.

They have asked all the players that restored some of the club’s pride, under Mark Senior, in the last third of the campaign just gone to return.

Any new players will also be made welcome and given the chance to sign for the club before the Kool Sport NCEL Division One begins on August 7.
