The midweek results gave West Riding County FA Premier Division leaders Albion Sports’ championship hopes a boost.

They beat relegation-threatened Halifax Irish 3-1 on Tuesday, while close rivals Campion had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at Tyersal the following day.

Albion, who have played three games more than Campion, now have a seven-point advantage over their Bradford rivals and are ten points better off than last season’s champions Bay Athletic – though Bay who have played five fewer games and will not relinquish their title without a fight.

Albion are at home to Brighouse Town on Saturday, who are only four points above one of the two relegation places, Campion visit Golcar Untied, while Bay are at Kirkburton.

Hunsworth moved back into second place in Division One after beating promotion outsiders Ventus/Yeadon Celtic 2-0.

Salts slipped back into third after being held 1-1 at Dudley Hill Rangers.

On Saturday, leaders Steeton take on basement side Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Hunsworth are at Eastmoor, while Salts will have home advantage against Overthorpe.

If Division Two leaders Bay Athletic Reserves take at least one point off visitors Steeton Reserves they will be declared champions while second-placed Westbrook YMCA may have to win four of their final five games if they are to take the runners-up spot. They entertain Golcar United Reserves.
