Lee Bullock column (with guest columnist Michael Flynn)

I’ve come off the bench this week to give Bully a breather – but he’s asked me to talk you through that last-minute winner against Barnet.

I’ve had a few text messages off the lads agreeing that I was onside. But they reckon my backside was five yards in front of play… Most officials we get are as much use as a chocolate fireguard and I’m the first one to give them stick. If it had happened a few months ago, I’m sure the flag would have gone up straight away.

But I’ve seen it again and the Barnet number ten was definitely playing me on. It’s just a shame that our change of luck comes a bit too late.

A couple of their players had been getting cocky, so it shut them up and I’m sure they had a long, boring journey home to London.

I’m not going to lose any sleep over that because we’ve had enough of those. It’s been a bad season and we’ve not won too many. Wins like that always feel a bit more special.

Anybody who thinks we’ve got nothing left to play for only had to look at the way we celebrated. The boys are still putting everything in because we are all still playing for contracts.

Hopefully we can make it three wins on the bounce at Chesterfield. All the pressure will be on them because they’ve been in the play-off race all season. If they miss out, you can see there’s going to be a bad atmosphere round the place.

I thought they might have gone on to an automatic spot because they’ve got a decent squad. They have good strikers and a strong centre half in Ian Breckin, who I know from my Wigan days.

But they are on a shocking run with only one win in nine. Hopefully by 5pm on Saturday we’ve extended that to one in ten with another good result.

Winning just helps everything from selling season tickets to the mood around the club. It helps the manager look at players and the chairmen have a look at the manager.

There’s been enough negativity around Valley Parade, so we want a positive finish.
