Luciano Becchio is racing the clock to be fit for Leeds’ crunch home game against MK Dons on Saturday.
The Argentinian has scored four goals in three games since returning to the side after missing two matches with a head injury and his absence against the Dons would be a blow.
Becchio left the field 13 minutes from the end of United’s 3-2 defeat at Gillingham with a tightened calf.
Leeds remain second in League One, a point ahead of Millwall, despite Saturday’s result.
United boss Simon Grayson said: “We have three games to go, starting with MK Dons, and I don’t want us to rely on other teams losing.
“We want to ensure we win those three matches so we are promoted whatever anyone else does.
“We have to dust ourselves down after the Gillingham defeat and be ready for MK Dons.”
