Lee Sinnott has called for a halt to the punishing end-of-term schedules facing so many Unibond League clubs.

His Farsley side must cram in their final four games in just eight days, starting with tomorrow's crunch home clash with promotion rivals Marine.

The congestion increased after Wednesday's postponement when whipping boys Runcorn failed to raise a side. The Celts are still due to play the basement side twice.

"The fixture situation needs looking at from the powers-that-be," said Sinnott. "This is my third season doing this and two or three clubs seem to cop for it every time.

"In this league, we've got a glut of fixtures at the beginning of the season and again at the end. In between it's a lot more spread out.

"You participate in a lot of cup competitions at this level and that means games having to be put back all the time. You're getting punished in effect for doing well.

"I know the bad weather coming so late has made it worse but I hope that the League have a look at the situation and maybe look to stage some of these cups earlier.

"You have to get on with it but I do sympathise with other clubs in the predicament that we find ourselves in."

Farsley are guaranteed a play-off spot but have not yet abandoned hope of snatching pole position.

Sinnott said: "We can only do our part by winning the games we've got left and then see what happens elsewhere but we're certainly not giving up on anything."

The Celts will give late tests to injury doubts Andy Shields and Martin Pemberton but expect both to be fit to face a side just one point behind.
