Adam Bolder admitted he fell for the Peter Taylor factor after dropping a division to join City.

The combative midfielder signed a month’s loan yesterday from Millwall, where he has been out of the picture.

Bolder said the chance to play for Taylor was a persuasive factor.

He said: “I’m 29 now but you can still learn and the gaffer has done it at a very high level. Hopefully I can improve my game under him.

“As a player, I didn’t really want to come to League Two but he was a really big pull for it. I’ve never worked under Peter Taylor before but I’ve heard a lot of good stuff through other players and coaching staff.

“He’s done very well wherever he’s been. He has got promotion at a lot of places and did a great job at my home-town club Hull.”

Bolder, who has played in all four divisions, began his career with the Tigers over a decade ago and he can see similarities with City’s current plight.

He said: “Everyone used to say Hull was a sleeping giant and then he got hold of it and started taking the club up the leagues.

“I’m sure he will have the same ambitions here and get this massive club out of this division. You look at the crowds they still get here and for this league it’s ridiculous.

“But you can’t keep saying the club should be doing better. You’ve got to prove it on the pitch.

“It will take a bit of time to play how the gaffer wants but he’s seen the opportunity and you only have to come to the stadium to realise what it could be.”

Bolder is Taylor’s fifth signing since taking over from Stuart McCall but he does not see the dressing room shake-up as a problem.

He said: “The gaffer’s not been here long either, so he’ll still be trying to get his point across. It won’t happen overnight.

“Everybody will learn different things and how he wants the team to play. It’s just a case of sticking with it and eventually it will click.”
