Guiseley's UniBond Premier League Division promotion rivals Kendal Town showed their class last Tuesday before the game started.

Kendal were at Nethermoor looking for an away win that would have seen the clubs level on points. That would have left the one with the better goal difference holding fifth place, just inside the play- off zone.

With so much riding on the game, the Cumbrians could not have been criticised for being single minded. They had something else on the agenda though, they had not forgotten what happened in the reverse fixture.

Guiseley’s former Huddersfield Town defender Anthony Lloyd suffered a devastating injury in stoppage time.

Lloyd told the Telegraph & Argus in January that his recovery would take up to a year and that he may never be able to play again.

"Kendal made a presentation to Anthony last Tuesday, which shows they have been thinking of him ever since the accident happened," said Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick.

"They had a collection for him when they played FC United of Manchester at their place - they chose that game for maximum effect. They know there is always a decent crowd when FC United come to play.

"Kendal raised a bit of money for the lad and we were all delighted that they had gone to the effort. Their chairman told us it was something he had wanted his club to do, and it was very nice of them. It shows what kind of a club they are.

"We are seeing a lot of Lloydy now. At first he wasn’t getting about much, and because his injury made it impossible for him to drive and he lives in the Castleford area, the lads didn’t see him as much as they wanted.

"He likes to be involved and he turns up at training, as well as games. He comes in the dressing room, and the lads are always glad to see him."
