Chris Brandon has been left out in the cold again for City’s trip to Aldershot tonight.

Brandon started Peter Taylor’s first game against Accrington ten days ago but did not even make the bench for the wins over Rochdale and Darling-ton.

And the experienced midfielder was not in the squad travelling to Hampshire as City look to keep momentum building with a third straight victory.

Speculation is mounting that local lad Brandon may not feature again under the new boss.

Taylor said: “The squad was strengthened after Rochdale with Mark McCammon coming in. That’s going to make it a little more difficult for anybody else to be added.

“At the moment he (Brandon) isn’t in the squad and we will just have to wait and see.”

But Gavin Grant, who joined on a non-contract basis on Friday, has been included and Taylor insists the former Wycombe striker will be in contention.

“We’ve taken an extra body down and Gavin is that 19th man. He could have easily come on as a sub on Saturday but I wanted to give him the first couple of days to get settled in.”

Aldershot, currently three points off the play-offs, had won only once in seven games before Saturday’s impressive victory at in-form Chesterfield.

Taylor said: “I know them quite well. They are a very good young team and Kevin (Dillon) has gone in there and kept them right.

“It will be difficult without a doubt but I was saying that about Rochdale and we put in a tremendous display there.

“I want more performances like Tuesday and Saturday. I thought Saturday was fine considering everything.

“All we are really looking for are consistent performances and a bunch that are together.

“You hope everybody turns in right and you also get that bit of luck.”

Taylor hasn’t forgotten his last trip to Aldershot in December 2008 when Wycombe’s four-month unbeaten start was finally ended with a 3-2 defeat.

“It was our 19th game but we still gave them a bit of a shock. Aldershot were different class for the first 45 minutes but we nearly got it back at the end and gave them a real scare.

“I know what they can do but it’s about how we go about things and I’m looking for us to keep improving on what we have done so far.

“I class myself as a coach and I would ideally be looking to get more into the players on the training ground. But we are playing a lot of games at the minute so you’ve got to get the balance.

“But if you are getting results it’s the best thing that can happen.”

Zesh Rehman is a slight doubt after missing the Darlington win with a tight calf. Youngster Louis Horne is likely to keep his spot on the bench.

Taylor added: “I was quite pleased with Louis in the reserve game at Preston and felt he deserved his chance to be involved.”
