Guiseley’s forward thinking ahead of their FA Trophy home tie with Blue Square Premier Division outfit Tamworth failed to pay off as Saturday’s third-round clash at Nethermoor was called off.
The cup game fell foul of the weather as Friday night’s sub-zero temperatures even put paid to some Football League fixtures.
The Lions, way behind with their own league games in the UniBond Premier, anticipated the severity of the icy blast and covered the playing surface at Nethermoor but a Saturday morning pitch inspection ruled out any chance of the tie being played.
A hasty rearrangement was agreed between the clubs and the FA and they will now try again on Tuesday night.
That means Guiseley’s short trip to Horsfall Stadium for a West Riding County Cup quarter-final tomorrow night has been postponed.
