Cleckheaton’s Peter Fenton accepted the newly-named Karl Curran-Telegraph & Argus Golfer of the Year Trophy at the Bradford Union’s annual dinner at Cedar Court.
The competition, in which points are accrued throughout the season in union events, has been given the new title as a tribute to Curran.
The South Bradford member was the reigning T&A Golfer of the Year when he died from skin cancer last year at the age of 37.
Fenton won the Bradford Amateur Matchplay crown and the Jim Wade Trophy for the best combined score in the Bradford Amateur Strokeplay and Open.
He paid tribute to Curran on receiving his award, saying: “He was a champion in more ways than one.”
To cap a great season for Cleckheaton, the club received the West Riding Motor Group Scratch League Division One crown.
It is the first time they have ever won the title and completed back-to-back successes, having been Division Two champions the previous year.
