Four of the leading West Riding County Amateur League sides are through to the COUNTY FA CHALLENGE CUP quarter-finals.

Albion Sports led the way with a 4-0 home win over Gildersome Spurs and they are joined in the last eight by Premier Division rivals Campion, Bay Athletic and Meltham Athletic.

Two late goals by Simon Parke added to those from Alex Cusack and Arron Heywood as Sports eased past their Yorkshire Old Boys League opponents.

Campion’s tie at Eastmoor was switched to Manningham Mills due to their opponents’ ground being unfit and the ‘hosts’ took advantage to win 3-0 with goals from Lincoln Donaldson, Carl Trennery and Joe Brown.

Next up for Campion will be league title rivals Bay Athletic, who edged out West Yorkshire Association Premier Division leaders Beeston St Anthony’s 3-2 after extra time.

Freddie McGillvery netted the winner after normal-time strikes from Joshua Williams and Kitson Gayle.

The clash between last season’s winners Ovenden West Riding and runners-up Meltham Athletic went the way of the Huddersfield side, who gained revenge for their 1-0 defeat in the final with a 2-1 victory.

Two second-half goals by Tom Mathews, including a penalty, overturned Steve Senior’s opener for Ovenden. Huddersfield duo Storthes Hall Reserves and Bay Athletic Reserves are the league’s last remaining sides in the COUNTY FA CHALLENGE TROPHY.

Storthes Hall beat local rivals Honley 5-3 after extra time and now face Dewsbury-based Thornhill in the last eight, while Bay – who saw off Pontefract Cobblers 5-0 earlier in the month – will host Oxenhope Recreation Reserves, who edged out Huddersfield YMCA 3-2.

Meanwhile, Wibsey climbed to second in the PREMIER DIVISION with a 3-0 home win against Brighouse Town Reserves.

Two Chris Wood goals, backed up by Joe Brooksbank, left the Bradford side just a point behind leaders Marsden, who suffered a shock 3-1 home defeat to basement side Storthes Hall.

Tyersal returned from Lower Hopton with no reward as they lost 1-0 to an Andy Clough goal.

Hunsworth extended their unbeaten DIVISION ONE start to 12 games with a 3-1 home win over Tyersal Reserves as Dale Wright (2) and Lee Padgett outscored Jamie McEwen.

Salts remain second after a 6-3 home success over Bronte Wanderers, with Lee Grice’s double backed up by Paul Baker, Wayne Walsh, Joel Bairstow and Stuart Burgess.

And two second-half strikes by Anthony Hannan earned Ventus/Yeadon Celtic a 2-1 home victory over Steeton as they climbed to third place above Littletown.

Westbrook YMCA retained top spot in DIVISION TWO with a 4-1 home win over West Horton.

They trailed at the interval to Ismail Ali’s goal but turned the game round thanks to Rob Carr’s hat-trick and Rob Wells. Bay Athletic Reserves stay second after demolishing Morley Town 7-0.
