Valley Parade’s north-west corner has a new sponsor.

It will be named after Bradford College as part of a their new partnership link-up with City.

The college are also backing the club’s centre of excellence as part of their own football academy programme for youngsters.

College principal and chief executive Michele Sutton is thrilled to come on board with the club.

“Our vision for the future is to support sport in the city,” she said.

“This gives us the opportunity to work with an organisation that we know is going to go places and we want to be part of that.

“We want our staff and students to support the development of the club and enjoy the facilities that we’re sponsoring for the future.

“We believe it is important the city’s professional clubs like this are supported by the local communities which they serve.”

Both Valley Parade and the college’s Trinity Green campus are nominated venues for the 2012 Olympics pre-games training camps.

Bradford College were keen to build on that common interest and talks between the two led to their apprenticeship arm entering a curriculum and sponsorship partnership.

The north-west corner is an area of the ground used for community activities and group.

This afternoon 100 youngsters will be watching the Rotherham game from there as part of the One in a Million charity.

Bradford College were also keen that the memorial flag remembering the fire victims should remain laid across seats in their section.

City director of operations David Baldwin said: “The partnership is a fantastic opportunity to forge new links between sport and education. We look forward to enjoying a long and fruitful relationship which will benefit both parties.”

Joint chairman Mark Lawn added: “I think it’s a great opportunity for Bradford City to get involved with such a forward-looking enterprise.

“Bradford College has been instrumental in driving forward Bradford and I hope this alliance helps to continue to promote the regeneration of the city.”
