Manager Mark Brier described himself as the ‘frustrated boss of Brighouse Town ’ this week after a run of results that has seen the club slip out of the top four.

The last five-game sequence began with a home draw, went into an away defeat by the odd goal in seven, moved onto a huge home victory, then another draw before last weekend’s narrow defeat in the derby at AFC Emley.

“I am fed up of saying it and you guys in the press must be fed up of hearing it but we have just not been converting enough of the chances we are creating, simple as,” said the manager.

“We are making chances but not getting the goals, and at crucial times in games too. We keep telling the players that if we don’t punish teams we will get punished.

“When we send them out we are fine and when we get them back in at half-time, they react well to the team talk.

“That suggests they are losing their concentration because they certainly have the skill and the fitness to be able to do what we ask of them.”

Brier highlighted a key to their inconsistency, saying: “The decision-making is not right at times, so we will have to work on that aspect of our game and improve as a group.”
