Bulls boss Steve McNamara today paid tribute to in-form centre Chris Nero.

The Aussie has recently produced arguably his best performances since joining from Huddersfield two years ago.

Nero’s dynamic wide-running game is proving one of the Bulls’ most potent threats and has coincided with their excellent end-of-season purple patch.

He has recovered from a series of frustrating injuries to highlight his class, scoring four times in their last four fixtures and creating a whole lot more.

“Chris Nero has been great,” McNamara said. “At the start of the season, he was very good for us and was our form back.

“He did his collar bone against Leeds at home over Easter and has been very unfortunate with a couple of injuries.

“But in recent weeks he has really come back to the fore, has been very influential for us and is now up inside the top ten players in the competition for line breaks.”

Nero has made 18 clean breaks for Bradford this term, the ninth most by any player in Super League, and his ten-try total is twice as many as last season.

Ahead of Sunday’s home clash with Salford City Reds, the 28-year-old is certainly showing the sort of finesse which first persuaded McNamara to sign him from the Giants.

“I know Chris is a very good player and the players here know that as well. Now he is starting to show everyone else that too.”
