Chris Nero reckons more chances will keep coming his way if his Bulls pack mates continue bossing opponents.

The Aussie centre has looked electric in recent games, picking up two tries at former club Huddersfield Giants last Sunday and making breaks galore at Harlequins the week before.

Bulls fans are finally starting to see the best of the elegant three-quarter towards the end of his second campaign at Odsal and he hopes for more fireworks against Catalans Dragons on Sunday.

But Nero puts his upturn in fortunes down to those on his inside and not just fill-in stand-off Paul Sykes, who has showed some real creativity.

“Ben Jeffries was doing a good job before getting injured and Sykesy is going well now,” he said.

“He and Glenn Morrison are just looking to get the ball to me as quickly as they can and giving me the space to work with and things have been happening.

“It probably is the best form I’ve had at the club. Attacking wise, things look great but a lot of it is on the back of some real good work from our forwards.

“The likes of Burge, Scrutes, Lynchy and Langers are really running hard in the middle, getting off-loads out and quick play-the-balls and that’s giving us the time and space on the edges. We need more of the same against Catalans.”

Nero was a try-scorer the last time the sides met in that infamous Challenge Cup collapse in Perpignan.

Bradford did win the earlier Super League meeting though and are looking to complete their only double of the season on Sunday to keep alive those slim play-off hopes.

Catalans need a success too to make sure they get in the eight and Nero said: “They’ve got a really balanced side.

“The Dragons have a big, strong forward pack that can hurt you with their own off-load game, while on the back of that they’ve some backs who can really turn a game.

“We know they’re going to be up for it because they aren’t certain of the play-offs yet.

“We have to win too so it’s all set for a real battle.”

Nero’s try double at the Galpharm Stadium has taken his tally for the season to nine.

Like many of his team-mates, the former St George man wishes the campaign was just starting rather than possibly coming to a premature end.

“It’s frustrating we couldn’t have done it earlier,” Nero added.

“But it has been satisfying recently to show some people that we aren’t a poor team.

“If we put it together, we’ve shown what we can do. We’ve played some good rugby, stuff which has been pleasing on the eye.

“That comes from doing a lot of other little things right and that will be the key again if we’re going to beat Catalans and give our fans something to cheer.”
