The reputation of Leeds fans has caused another game to have an early kick-off and the cancellation of a pre-season match at Rotherham.

South Yorkshire police have put pressure on the Millers to call off the friendly at the Don Valley Stadium on July 30.

It is the latest in a series of police-advice moves that have seen five of Leeds’ away fixtures moved to an early kick-off.

Scunthorpe (August 9), Rotherham (October 4) and Huddersfield (February 14) will now kick off at noon, while Carlisle (September 20) will start at 12.15pm and Yeovil (August 23) has been moved to 1pm.

Supporters club secretary Ray Fell said: “I think it is unfair and unthought through. I believe a lot of the people who are making these decisions are basing them on incidents 20 and 30 years ago.

“Leeds fans have caused very little trouble at grounds in recent years. Many of them travel by bus and are away from the ground without any incidents.

“This breeds resentment and forces fans to travel at all hours and I wish we could get back to the traditional 3pm kick off.”
